THE ’94 CLUB
By Thalia Gonzalez Kane

Crave Productions is thrilled to present it’s inaugural production and Thalia Gonzalez Kane's playwriting debut, THE ’94 CLUB. After starting a dangerous game that rapidly spirals out of control, a group of teenage girls quickly begin to learn about the struggles that come with womanhood as they strive to come to terms with their own sexuality.

The seven-time Dora Nominee, Monica Dottor (Nightwood, Canadian Stage, Soulpepper) directs and choreographs this complex, visceral play featuring actors Tamara Almeida (Good Witch, Heroes Reborn, Warehouse 13), Jeanie Calleja (Schitt’s Creek, Reign, Murdoch Mysteries, Slings and Arrows), Shaina Silver-Baird (Citadel Theatre, 4th Line Theatre, Soulpepper), Thalia Kane (ROTC, Pea Green Theatre, Chekhov Collective) and introducing newcomer, Lily Scriven.

Based on true events, THE ’94 CLUB explores gender politics, sexuality, coming of age, queerness and the harsh realities of of growing up in a small town. As our society grows into one of openness and understanding, it is important we hear these stories of oppression and pain. It is important we acknowledge our past and work to amend the future. Without self-reflection, we will not be able to better ourselves and our world.

“It’s just a game. I’ll tell you the rules and then we can play…”
