Had they previously met somewhere else under different circumstances? Why is their love so troubling for their children? Indeed, the light at dusk is sometimes warmer and more enveloping than that of the midday sun. Half Life explores the complicated ways in which those who provide care are also positioned with power - the power to withhold and endow agency, the power to enact and prevent harm, the power to give and affirm love. Set in an elder care home at the turn of the 21st century, this audio production reimagines Half Life as a queer story of love and memory.

As a playwright, Mighton has been the recipient of the prestigious Siminovitch Prize in Theatre, two Governor General’s Literary Awards for Drama, the Dora Award, and the Chalmers Award. His plays include Possible Worlds, A Short History of Night, and Half Life.

Half Life was first co-produced at Tarragon with Necessary Angel Theatre in February 2005.
